Garage Door Replacement Parts

Before you purchase your garage repair parts you should perform a detailed inspection of your door. With garage doors one problem can cause other problems so it is great idea before you purchase your garage door replacement parts.

The garage system is actually two smaller systems working together in unison. If Either of the two are having problems it will probably cause problems for the other therefore to save time and money you should fix it once.

Important Note: Order all the replacement parts for your door at the same time. Follow this safety inspection.

  1. Check for broken springs overhead. A broken spring will damage your opener. You should note that if you have a broken spring do not release the emergency release cable.
  2. check that the lights are solid on your safety sensors.
  3. Observe that your cables have tension when your garage door is fully open. adjust opener so that it is at the same level as the header.
  4. see if any hinges are broken.
  5. Make sure your garage door is balanced. You might need replacement garage door torsion springs *(See note below on door balancing).
  6. Is your garage door lubricated.
  7. Is the garage door moving freely. (not rubbing)
  8. Is the garage door opener rail properly lubricated.

*Before you buy your garage door replacement parts continued

* garage door balancing = with the door in the down position release the safety cable or "emergency release" you should be able to lift your door easily it should literally be weightless other than the momentum that it produces. So if your door is slightly heavy and the torsion spring is not broken. Take your winding bars(see below) and tighten the springs one half turn each. You do not want the door to be too light either so if it is back the springs off a little.. you can safely tighten your springs one at a time make sure the winding bar is inserted into the end hole in the winding cone before loosening the square nuts...and the winding bar is secured against the strut on the door The other spring will retain cable tension... Also when you insert your winding bars make sure that you do not make the cables fall off the drums, this is easy to do and makes a lot more work for yourself.

Note: If your springs are broken you must get the replacement parts for it. If they are not broken balancing your door will greatly reduce the chance of having to buy any replacement parts in the future.

Winding bars = 1/2 inch metal dowel that you buy in your local home depot or lowes... buy 1 and cut it in half with a hack saw or something similar. You could buy a set from us if you want but personally I use the ones at  home depot.
