Wiring Garage Door Sensors
Tips on garage door sensor wiring:
1. Always use round staples when wiring your garage door it is very easy to staple the wires yet very hard to
find the problem when its done... Always becarefule not do staple your garage door wiring.
2. Generally speaking Liftmaster gets wired in parralell genie wiring is usually in series... when the wiring is
done properly look for the solid lights on the sensors.
3. Make sure your garage door sensor wiring does not interfere with the mechanical movement of your opener this
can and will destroy your opener wiring ... use care while wiring your garage door sensors to staple all wires such
that there is no potential for contact between moving parts and wiring.
Genie sensors wireing is done in series .... note the super long wire in the picture ... genies are a pain in
the ass thats why we dont install them..
P.S. If you just bought a genie accellerator bring it back it is a P.O.S. for those of you that dont know what
P.O.S. stands for it just means that its unreliable dangerous and breaks easily.

[Just in case you are wondering:
Consider the electric current to be like the flow of water.
In a series circuit, the downstream wire of the first device is connected to the upstream wire of the second
device. So the current has to flow through device one, then device two. In this case, total resistance is increased
because it is harder for the current to flow through two devices.
In a parallel circuit, the upstream wires of the two devices are connected to each other, and the downstream wires
of the two devices are connected. So, part of the current will flow through device one, and the rest of the current
will flow through device two. In this case, total resistance is decreased because the current can flow more easily
through the resistors (this takes a little math to really prove, but the conclusion still holds).]
Parrallel wiring ... liftmasters are most garage door technicians favorite because of how easy they are to
install and wireing is a piece of cake.

wireing your liftmaster sensors is easy as pie... match both striped wires and both white wires and connect
the matched wireing pairs into the coorisponding black and white terminals... (note: black stripe goes with black
terminal)

Other random interesting facts about garage door sensor wireing:
- There is only about 5 volts on your sensor wires
- You can coil the wires at the termination points to reduce stress on the wires
